Our Story
The name KIGO (季語) originates from Japanese haiku poetry, where it refers to words or phrases that capture the essence of a season, cherry blossoms for spring, fireflies for summer. These seasonal references connect people to the natural world and the passage of time.
Rooted in the Japanese philosophy of mono no aware, the bittersweet awareness of impermanence, KIGO exists to honour what is present right now. Our menus are never fixed. They are written by the season, shaped by what the land and sea offer at this precise moment, and experienced only once.
Our Space
The journey begins on the terrace. A stone path, a dry garden, a pause.
Within, the 44-seat dining room is shaped by Wa, the quiet balance of harmony. At its center, a sushi counter of rare Aji stone anchors the space. Sourced from a single mountain in Kagawa Prefecture, it carries the weight of 40,000 years.
Opposite, a custom work by Hideki Kimura, drawn from the Rimpa tradition, captures the meeting of stillness and motion.
For more intimate moments, a private room offers a serene setting for seasonal omakase, held in quiet reverence for the now.
